It's been 5 weeks since our sweet baby girl was born and it seems like a whirl-wind. It has definitely been the best and worst of times. Fortunately, each week seems to get a little bit easier as we get use to having a newborn around. I ended up having to have an unexpected c-section after pushing for three hours which didn't help. I am so thankful for all of the doctors and nurses who were there to help and encourage us, but having to have a c-section was still hard reality to face. Now I'm not one of those all natural kind of gals, I totally asked for an epidural. Mentally however it is hard to wrap my head around getting my stomach sliced open, when for the past 9 months I had been preparing for a completely different experience.
I feel really blessed though, because relatively I have had a pretty fast recovery. It hasn't been great and I still can't do a full sit-up but I've been able to start jogging again and I feel so much better than I did during those first few weeks. Because I had pushed during labor, MK was pretty deep inside my pelvis so the c-section was a little more difficult than it usually would be. The doctors decided it would be best to keep us in the hospital for four days just to be safe. In that time MK lost a lot of weight. She came out a whopping 7 lbs. 5 oz. and the day we left she as a little over 6 lbs. 5 oz. She has gained that lost weight back now, but its been a slow, steady road. I think even now at 5 weeks she only weighs about 8 lbs. The doctors say she has a fast metabolism and a small stomach. Thankfully though, she does love to eat. For being so small, she sure is strong and is the smiliest baby you will ever meet. I just want to show her off to the whole world!

| Not everyone looks like a model after giving birth. This was the first time I got to hold MK. She was about 2 hours old. |
