We drove Friday night and met up with everyone at a darling Bed and Breakfast in Doolin. It just happened to be the perfect size too. They had three adjoining family rooms which were perfect for us because we were three families all with kids. I wish we had gotten a group photo of us all, but alas... no luck.
Saturday we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and headed out to see the cliffs everyone has been talking about since we arrived in Ireland months ago.
The Harnos Family (above) were so fun to hang out with this weekend. They are moving to Berlin next month so we were so happy we could spend some time with them before they leave.
I was a little rebellious and climbed the wall barrier to get these pictures. Below was my best attempt at a cool "dancish" photo... haha your body sure isn't the same after being pregnant. All of us girls!!!
Marcus, Rebecca's husband, thought it would be a great idea to take a boat tour and see the cliffs from below. I am SO glad he did because the tours was amazing and at 15euro per person, so totally worth it.
Rebecca and me with her little girl Sophia in arms. Sophia is exactly a year older than Mary-Kate and I feel like she has become her pseudo big sister. It is SO cute to see these two interact. Sophia is always kissing Mary-Kate and giving her big hugs. She can't quite say the name "Mary-Kate" yet so instead she calls her "Monkey". It's adorable!
This rock was actually my favorite part of the cliffs. It was covered with puffin birds which were so fun to watch and see interact.
After an amazing lunch at McGann's Pub we took a break from the sunshine and checked out Doolin Cave. It has the 3rd longest stalactite in the world. When the first explorers crawled through a narrow tunnel for two and a half hours and emerged in the large chamber they thought they had come face to face with a giant squid-like monster...and we could see why! We had to climb down over a hundred stairs to get there then put on these hard hats and crouch down to get there. Here Jess and I are holding our wee ones close to us as we explore down under.
All in all, it was the perfect trip and we are so grateful we were able to spend time with great friends, family and finally explore Ireland during the best time of the year. I can honestly say that when the weather is nice, I think Ireland is the most beautiful place in the whole world!
